Shadowfur padded quietly through the woodland area, jaws open for prey and paws moving silently. He smiled as he scented a mouse; since the cats didn't always hunt here, there wasn't usually mice on the fresh-kill pile. It was mostly just fish and water voles. The black warrior stalked quietly up to the little creature, pounced and landed square on its back. Shadowfur bit its neck, sharply cutting off the squeal of terror and surprise. He carried it over to the roots of a tree and buried it there for later. Then, he straightened up and looked around for more prey.

Her ears twitched as she stalked through the under growth, it seemed shadowfur was not the only warrior who had wanted a change of pace and prey. Cloudpelt had strayed form her usual spot by the river to come and try her paws at catching mice.
She moved along quietly but didn't spot any mice instead she found a pigeon sitting pecking at the ground. she was fast and as it took off she managed to catch her claws in its back and bring it down biting into his neck and killing it quickly. she buried it and then looked up she saw Shadowfur before she scented him since he was down wind of her. Her tail twitched in greating and she padded over.
"How is the prey running?"

"It's good. I thought it would be nice to add something different to the fresh-kill pile," he replied to Cloudpelt. The black warrior flicked his tail uneasily; he never had been good at talking to other cats. Shadowfur sat down and curled his tail around his paws for lack of anything else to do. He prayed that Cloudpelt wouldn't take his quietness as a sign that he didn't want her there. That happens to me way too much...

"You as well?"
She said with an amused meow, Cloudpelt was a friendly she cat and never let other peoples attitudes affect her, she liked to spend time with others kits and apprentices made her happy, but warrior were good company too.
"ThoughI fancy something with feathers myself"
It wasnt often she was able to kill a bird but she enjoyed the taste, though anything different to the usual fish and water voles was a nice change.
"I'm sure the elders will be greatful for a taste of mouse"

Shadowfur nodded his head in agreement. He often felt that he was the only cat who wanted something different than fish all the time, though he did enjoy eating them. It's nice not to be different in every way, he thought, recalling his father.
His father had been an evil, controlling cat. He had tried to kill the medicine cat, and he had wanted Shadowfur-at that time, Shadowpaw- to help. Of course, he had refused and told the leader, who had deemed it necessary, for the safety of every cat, that Shadowfur's father be killed.
Shadowfur shuddered inwardly at the memory, and pushed it away. Haunt me later, he told it, I don't need you now. He turned his attention back to Cloudpelt, willing himself to forget about his dad for now.

"Is there something wrong?"
She said to him, she wondered if she should go but she didn't want to, Cloudpelt sort of depended on company to keep her occupied, she had a short attention span and other cats were good to focus on.
"You look like you ate a bad fish"
She joked at him she stopped and sat down and licked her right paw.

"N-no, I'm fine," Shadowfur responded quickly, slipping over the first word. He shook his head, trying to clear it, and then looked back at Cloudpelt. "So, how long have you been hunting?" he asked, hurrying to start a conversation with her. Shadowfur realized that he really didn't want her to leave. The black tom hardly ever talked to other cats; they always seemed to assume from his quietness that he didn't want them there. Most of the time, that couldn't be farther from the truth, he thought.

"Not long, I woke up a bit late"
Cloudpelt had been up later the night before telling some of the apprentices stories, one of her favorites was how tigerclan got its stripes and they liked it too. so she had gone to sleep late and woken late as well, lujckily she had not been chosen for a patrol or hunting party early in the morning.

"Yeah, I haven't been out long either," Shadowfur mewed. He had stayed out late hunting and woken up late. The black RiverClan tom glanced up at the clear blue sky. It's easier to come out and hunt even though you're tired when it's absolutely beautiful out, he thought. The air was crisp and clean, the sky bright blue. The only thing that bothered Shadowfur slightly was that it was so hot out, even though it was still pretty early in the morning. He tried not to let his concern show in his amber eyes.
