Sundance slipped through the opening into the camp, a few thin rabbits hung from her jaws. She padded into the silent camp, she sighed her mind flashing back to the days when she was a young apprentice and the camp was full of cats and chatter. She dropped the thin rabbits on the bare spot where the fresh meat pile was supposed to be. She sniffed the rabbits trying to pick the fattest one, “Hopefully they with last us a few more days,” she mumbled to herself. She had been trying to get Windclan back to the way it was before the flood, it didn’t seem to be working, most of the prey had washed away or had drowned in their holes when the water came. She sighed again, and dug her claws into the hard ground frustrated beyond belief why was is like this? Why had this happened? She desperately wanted answers but she was just a warrior what could she do? She couldn’t speak with Starclan!

Rockpelt lifted his head as he heard someone coming through the camp entrance, he stood up and stretched then padded over to the fresh -kill pile where a few thin rabbits lay. He sighed then nodded to Sundance, he could tell something was troubling her, she wasnt't her usual happy cheerful self.. "Greeting sundance, is something troubling you?" he mewed. He sat down and wrapped his tail over his paws and lowered his head to inspect what sundance had caught.

Sundance hooked one of the rabbits and dragged it near her. She stared at her rabbit for a bit then looked at Rockpelt, "I guess, what excitably happened to this place after I... we were swept away?" she said looking up at the medicine cat. She had never asked but even before she left there were many more cats alive before she was swept away, only a few had died from the flood before then. She had thrown herself into repairing the camp, but it was hard and she had started thinking more and more as time wore on about what had happened and what would have happened if she and... him hadn't left.

Rockpelt chose a small rabbit for himself, there were other cats that needed to be fed besides him. He took a bite of his rabbit as he listened to her speak, It must have been hard for her being away from everything so long. he thought as she asked about what happened. He sighed then looked up and met her gaze, "Well, not that many cats drowned but as you can see a lot of the rabbits did, and the ones who lived are really just starting to return. Then after we left the camp some of the older, weaker cats just couldn't take the journey." He sighed then shook his head trying to shake the bad memories away like water trapped in his fur.

Sundance stood for a second absorbing that information. She missed a lot of the old cats, she wondered who would be the new elders, she snorted as she realised it could be the yound cats she knew now, including her. She wondered what it would be like, bossing the new apprentices around. in a better mood now she lay down right there are tore into her rabbit. "Do you think you will be the first elder? Your older than me." she joked, amusment made her eyes saprkle, like they had before the flood. She dug into the rabbit staving off extream hunger.

Rockpelt swipped his paw over Sundance's flame colored ear, "Their are still cats older than me and I don't plan on retiring from being a medicine cat any time soon." he mewed smiling then he took another few bites of the rabbit. "Did you plan on retiring sometime soon? It is certainly different now and it will probably be a while before we have any new elders." he said then tore off a few more pieces of his rabbit.

Sundance merowed with laughter, she shook her head and swished her tail. Hardly anything could keep her down for long. She swallowed a bite then looked up at him, "Oh ya I was thinking of retiring today! I mean who wouldn't want to sit on their but all day? It's too soon for me to retire!" she meowed pausing for a bit taking another bite, "I'm also glad your not retiring so soon, you don't even have a apprentice to take over for you yet." she said a bit worriedly tipping her head to the side. Her tail swished over the ground tapping him on leg.

Rockpelt devoured the last few bites of the small bunny he had taken then laid down in the sunhigh light. He smiled as Sundance finished speaking. "I don't plan on having to have an apprentice take over anytime soon." He meowed as he began to clean her paws and then drew one over her ear. He took in a deep breath enjoying the feel of the open, clear sky above his head. "I don't see how the other clans stay under trees all the time, I don't know what I'd do not being able to see the sky." he said lifting his head to the sky and letting the fresh moorland breeze sweep around him.

Sundance let a nod Finnish give her time as she polished off the rabbit. Then licking her lips, she squinted up at the blue sky and glanced at the sun quickly before looking away, "I know what you mean I had to go through a two-leg city and a small forest on my way home and each time I had the hardest time going to sleep without seeing the stars and I nearly went out of my mind!" She stretched, relaxing her muscles and flopped down on her side to try and absorb the sun as much as possible. She didn't know how cats lived without sky from horizon to horizon.

Rockpelt nodded then laid his head on his paws and stretched his legs letting his claw unsheath and then slide back in. He lazily flicked his tail back and forth on the dusty ground, flick the dirt up with his tail. He missed having warriors and apprentices moving around the camp coming and going on patrols. "I don't know what I'd do not being able to see my warrior ancestors right above me." he meowed closing his eyes.

Sundance lazily flicked her red-gold ears in response. Then after looking at the cloudless sky for a few minutes, she looked over at Rockpelt, "I just thought of this, does having branches over your head make it harder to hear Starclan?" She looked over the camp she had gotten used to the strange quiet that has seemed to hover over the camp. She wanted an apprentice so bad it would be so fun to teach a young cat the warrior code.

Rockpelt smiled at her question, and then rolled over onto his side. "No, not really. As long as I know my warrior ancestors are watching over me and they know I'm ready to listen to what they have to say. Although I like the feeling over having an open sky above me when I talk to my warrior ancestors." He couldn't imagine having followed the path of a warrior, not being able to openly talk with her warrior ancestors.

Sundance nodded that made sense to her but she still would never feel at home in the forest. Even though she had just eaten she felt hungry. She sighed; it had been feeling to her as if she was trying to feed more cats than just herself when she was eating. Sundance refused to eat more than her share through, she was the only filled out cat in the clan and they needed her to feed everyone else. She started to wash her fur, she always started with her ears and then to her neck.

Rockpelt stood up and shook the dust from his brown pelt, he hated the feeling of dirt stuck in his fur. He understood how Sundance must feel, she was the only one who could really do most of the hunting and he was the only one who knew how to heal. He sat down and flicked his tail lazily behind him. "Come and get me next time you go hunting, just because I'm a medicine cat doesn't mean I can't hunt and I'd love to help."
